Cardholder

Definition:
The person in whose name a credit card company issues a line of credit. Sometimes there is more than one cardholder, in which case ultimate responsibility for the account lies with the primary cardholder. The cardholder must sign a cardholder agreement in order to receive their credit card, which is technically the property of the issuing institution, and to begin utilizing card services such as the ability to purchase, transfer funds, and withdraw cash at specified interest rates, either fixed at a certain value or pegged to the Prime Rate.
