Capital expenditure
- Definition:Permanent improvements made to increase the value of property, such as construction of new facilities, improvements and upgrades to existing property and materials, and purchases of new equipment. More generally, capital expenditures also include the business's start-up costs and the initial purchase of fixed assets, any repairs to those assets intended to make them more valuable, and the costs associated with preparing those assets to be used for business purposes.
