Annual Percentage Yield (APY)
- Definition:The effective rate of return/interest on an investment, including compounding over all periods. If the APY is the same as the interest rate paid on the investment, that is referred to as "simple interest," but if the APY is higher than the interest rate then the interest is being compounded each period, reflected in the higher annual rate.
